This week BKKNites is taking you along the slippery slope that isPatpong, a red light district where anything goes.
Patpong is known as the original area of Bangkok that first introduced gogo bars into the Silom area, Silom has invested a lot of money into the nightlife scene, bars, clubs and restaurants are a huge part of the the make up that is Silom, yet the “red light area” is still perhaps the infamous part of Bangkok.
The area is located in Silom and gained it’s popularity during the American invasion of Vietnam, Patpong 1 and Patpong 2 are the two main streets of Paptong.
The arearemains to this day a verypopulararea with tourists and whore mongers alike, some westerners like ourselves here at BKKNitesprefer the darker Patpong 2 bars, show us the delights of Baba Bing, Black Pagoda, Glamour and The Strip.
Over in Patpong 1 you will seeThigh bar,Kiss and Safarai that line both sides of Patpong night market, both of these Soi‘s that are lined with gogo bars and attract Western and Asian men whom look forward to tasting the delights of the flesh
Some peoplethinkPatpongis a strange mixture of sex and a market where touristsgo to pay over the odds for copied goods, walk along Patpong 1 after the sungoes down, and be greeted by an intoxicating‘ mix of girls touting for you to visit their bars, to menasking if you “want to see a ping pong show.“
Overall if you are just a visitor, or an ex-pat living the dream here, Patpong is still worth a visit.
